Bersatu happy with Dr M-Nurul meeting, Azmin frowns on one-on-one talk

The London meeting between PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar and former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad in London paved the way for positive resolutions for Pakatan Harapan, Bersatu says, but PKR deputy president Azmin Ali said talks must not be on an individual level.
"Anyone can meet Mahathir but discussions must be done in the Harapan spirit and not as individuals. Maybe, Nurul Izzah just went there to spend Hari Raya with Mahathir.
"I don't know but I don't think they did (discuss Harapan). Discussions about policy and direction of Harapan must be discussed at the Harapan leadership council," he told reporters at a Hari Raya event at the Shah Alam Convention Centre.
However, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) strategist Rais Husin told Malaysiakini the meeting paved the way towards a positive resolution of key issues holding back the registration of the coalition.
"It certainly will move towards a resolution of some of the key issues, with some specific conditions attached to it," he said.
He, however, declined to reveal details that were discussed during the meeting.
What he could confirm was that the meeting was "all good" for Harapan, especially in the efforts to build a "credible and cohesive alternative".
He added that various other meetings had taken place "bilaterally" and "multilaterally" among coalition partners.
"There are many parallel meetings at various levels that have moved towards this particular positive outcome. Meetings have been done and it's work in progress," he said.
Nurul Izzah earlier reportedly confirmed the meeting but declined to say if it was to resolve the issue on the coalition's leadership.
In a Facebook post later, Nurul Izzah said the discussions touched on saving the country.
"Any meeting, be it directly or indirectly, would surely concern saving Malaysia," she said.
She added that Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak will not be able to sleep at night as not all those who appear to support him are being honest but did not elaborate.

Rais said that a Harapan meeting will take place next week to further formalise matters.
"Of course, this is an important priority (and a) decision has to be made. Given the urgency, give some latitude of time so that everyone can sink in with those discussions.”
The leadership line-up is necessary to enable Harapan to be registered with the Registrar of Societies (ROS) so that it can use a common logo and flag in the upcoming general election.- Mkini
