File your paperwork before fighting, PPBM leaders told

PPBM president Muhyiddin Yassin says any allegations against a party member must be backed with facts and evidence put in a report.

KUALA LUMPUR: PPBM may on the cusp of an internal battle with vice-president Hamidah Osman and Youth chief Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman appearing to be at each other’s throats with their criticism against each other.

However, party president Muhyiddin Yassin said if there is to be a war, paperwork must be filed first.

“Anyone who has any problem with those they claim have committed a disciplinary offence must file a written report,” the former deputy prime minister said.

“In order to be fair, we can’t rely on hearsay. We can’t slander one another.

“Any allegation we make must be backed with facts and evidence before we take the matter to the disciplinary board,” he told reporters when met at a function here today.

He was asked to comment on Hamidah’s recent request for Syed Saddiq to be investigated by the party’s disciplinary board after he accused her of masterminding the surprise resignation of more than 1,000 Perak PPBM members en masse.

Syed Saddiq had also called Hamidah, the former Gopeng Umno Wanita chief, a hypocrite who was upset with Muhyiddin’s decision not to name her as Perak PPBM state chief.

“I know she (Hamidah) is behind this. I will say it upfront: I want Hamidah to resign. If you are in the party for positions, then ‘berambus’ (get lost),” Syed Saddiq told FMT on May 28.

On July 4, Hamidah said she would write a letter to PPBM’s disciplinary board, calling for action to be taken against Syed Saddiq, whom she said had made “wild and unfounded allegations” about her.

Syed Saddiq however told FMT that he had evidence backing his claims, which he would provide to the disciplinary board if he is called up.

“In this kind of situation, we want them (party members) to go through the proper procedures, so that those who are accused of a disciplinary offence will have a chance to defend themselves,” Muhyiddin said.

“We don’t want statements to be made to the media. There must be an official report, furnished with evidence,” he added.- FMT
