MAT SABU HITS BULLS-EYE: CHINESE DON’T MIND TAXES GOING TO MUSLIM WELFARE, BUT THEFT LIKE NAJIB’S 1MDB & ROSMAH’S PINK DIAMOND ANGERS THEM

TO debunk the belief spread by Barisan Nasional that chaos will surely follow its ousting from power, Amanah president Mohamad Sabu said non-Malays had never had problems with Malays.
He said there was no reason to believe that Malay and Bumiputera interests would not be protected with the opposition in Putrajaya, when the non-Malays had always paid taxes without complaining that the money was used to benefit the Malays.
“The Chinese business community work very hard to succeed. They pay tax, all sorts of taxes. They pay the most taxes.
“But they never complain when the money goes to developing rural areas, and spent on welfare to help the poor, including the Malays,” he said during a Penang DAP general election fundraising dinner last night in Bayan Baru.
“The Chinese ‘taukeh’ (bosses) have never complained that the taxes they paid were used to develop Felda, Mara entrepreneurs, on scholarships and religious schools.
“But they are angry when their tax money is stolen by Umno leaders,” he said to resounding cheers and applause from the over 3,000-strong crowd.
Mohamad, who is better known as Mat Sabu, said Umno and BN were lying when they said must stay in power for Malay and Bumiputera rights and interests to be protected.
“They have been saying that Malays and the Bumiputera will come under threat if BN falls. Can this view still be accepted?
“Even (former prime minister and former BN chairman) Dr Mahathir Mohamad is now with Pakatan Harapan,” he said.
Mohamad said several states had already changed governments without incident.
He said Kelantan, Terengganu, Kedah, Penang, Perak, and Selangor had all changed governments without resulting unrest.
“If there were no problems then, why should changing the government in Putrajaya bring any problems?
“All civil servants, including the police and the army, will be doing their jobs as usual too. Only Umno is getting anxious because some of them might land in jail. Up to them to explain in court,” he said.
PH is aiming to take Putrajaya to remove BN from power in the coming polls and take several frontline states such as Kedah, Perak, Johor, Malacca and Negri Sembilan.
Opposition leaders will be using PH-led Penang and Selangor as their success stories to convince voters to give the opposition coalition a chance to administer the country.
Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said PH could deliver its promise to do away with the goods and services tax (GST), which has burdened the people.
He said in Penang, without GST, the state could still look after the welfare of those in need and give out numerous annual welfare aid schemes by maintaining a clean government.
He also said since 2008, the state had achieved annual budget surpluses, improved cleanliness, attracted investments, built affordable homes, preserved permanent forest reserves, and reduced the state’s debt.
