Rizal Mansor, the aide to Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's wife Rosmah Mansor, has denied allegations that he violated civil service rules by politicking.
Responding to PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli’s claim that he violated Rule 21(1) of the Public Officers Regulations (Conduct and Discipline) 1993, Rizal said he had never made any political statements.
"I have only written and expressed my views on my personal Facebook profile as other Malaysians do," he said in a Facebook posting today.
He also said that he has no political positions whatsoever.
Rafizi had on Thursday alleged that Rizal had broken Rule 21(1) by campaigning for BN in the 2016 Kuala Kangsar by-election; officiating the Kelana Jaya Umno Youth annual general meeting (AGM) this year; and issuing political statements.
Rizal said the allegation that he campaigned in Kuala Kangsar was false.
"I had never take part in any campaign big or small during the by-election. Throughout the contest I was only in Kuala Kangsar once, and that is to attend a press conference by Rafizi regarding slanderous accusations against my employer," he said.
Rafizi had during last year's by-election held a series of press conferences regarding Rosmah’s use of a private jet. Rizal was barred from attending the press conference on June 15.
Meanwhile, on officiating the Kelana Jaya Umno Youth AGM, Rizal said he was invited to the event, and had ensured that he was not violating any civil service rules.
Rafizi has said that he plans to lodge a complaint against Rizal with the Public Service Department.
Rizal said he welcomed such a move and is prepared to be punished if he is in the wrong. - Mkini
