KUANTAN: Three old mortar shells, believed to have belonged to the army, were found at an open space behind a petrol station in Jalan Semambu here yesterday.
Kuantan district police chief ACP Abdul Aziz Salleh said the police were contacted after a construction worker found the mortar shells near the area at 9am.
“The bomb demolition squad was rushed to the area and investigation confirmed they were old mortar shells used in military training.
“It was also confirmed that the mortar shells did not pose any hazard to the populace,” he said when contacted here today.
Aziz said the mortar shells were later destroyed. -FMT
