(Felda) rare successes of socio-economic engineering in our country.
brought decent life to many settlers from its inception in 1950s.
established as statutory body, managed by technocrats
objective — to bring about poverty alleviation, among rural poor.
Felda became very rich, well-endowed
its large land holding acquired at a pittance.
settlers should have become very rich too
what happened in recent years most unfortunate.
settlers saddled with endless borrowings and debts.
settlers in constant tussle with Felda over rights and benefits.
they are constant need of “special bonus/payments” from government.
corporate bigwigs, former politicians, “investing” and “venturing”
problems in Felda became bigger.
everything they touched become (shit) so far.
settlers should have been given free shares when FGV listed.
Instead, it was loans in exchange for FGV shares
Did settlers own anything at all before FGV listed?
price of FGV plummeted from RM5 to less RM2
settlers more in debt and poorer.
many devious, dubious investments
luxurious hotels in London, sturgeon project in M'sia
another bombshell — prime land on Jalan Semarak controversy
not optimistic problem in Felda, FGV will be resolved
