PETALING JAYA: DAP parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang (pic) successfully underwent an operation last week to remove a minor tumour on his left kidney, said DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng.
Guan Eng, who is Kit Siang's son, said the Gelang Patah MP is expected to make a full recovery without any complications.
“This minor tumour was discovered during his routine medical check-up. A biopsy done on this tumour showed that it was Stage 1a cancer, which is the lowest cancer level,” Guan Eng said in a statement Wednesday.
He added that Kit Siang was already stretching his legs.
In Kit Siang's absence, all of his parliamentary duties would be taken over by his representative Ng Siam Luang and the Gelang Patah DAP office.
“Meanwhile, Johor DAP chairman and Kluang MP Liew Chin Tong will also provide assistance,” said Guan Eng.
