The Maulud Nabi or Prophet's Birthday was just over last Friday.
As is usual with the Sunnis and the Shias all over the world, the Prophet's Birthday is becoming another point of contention, hatred, murder and mayhem.
Yup the Salafis, Wahabis, other Sunnis and Shias fight against each other and among themselves over a birthday party too.
First up is Pakistan. A Salafi militant group attacked and killed NINE Sunnis who were celebrating the Prophet's Birthday in Peshawar. Here is the news :
"Nine killed, 37 injured as three terrorists dressed in burkas stormed hostel of Peshawar's Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) Friday morning. . . . The attack claimed by Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan. Governor Iqbal Zafar told DawnNews the terrorists prepared a bigger attack.. weapons and explosives recovered . . He condemned attackers for causing loss of life on Eid Miladun Nabi."
Wow what a birthday party !! Cakes, balloons, bombs, AK47s and stuff !!
And here is how the rest of Pakistan celebrates the Eid Miladun Nabi or Prophet's Birthday :
- Eid Miladun Nabi is being celebrated with religious zeal and fervor on Friday across Pakistan amid tight security and surveillance.
- Cellular phone services will also remain closed in Karachi, Hyderabad, Quetta and Sukkur.
Mobile phones turned off across Pakistan ?? Wow! They are such party animals.
Should we also turn off the mobile phones say in Kuala Lumpur and the Klang Valley for the Prophet's Birthday? (Mobile phones are used to trigger IED bombs.)
In Malaysia, UMNO has made the Prophet's Birthday or Maulud Nabi a public holiday.
PAS on the other hand does not celebrate the Maulud Nabi. Some of them would say that celebrating the Prophet's Birthday is a bidaah or innovation.
Someone suggested that if the Pakatan Harapan bloggers exploit this point alone they can crack up the love affair between PAS and UMNO. Hello kekawan Blogger Pakatan Harapan, pi tanya PAS jika maulud nabi itu bidaah ke atau bukan bidaah?
The Saudi Arabian Wahabis / Salafis are dead against celebrating the Prophet's Birthday. Here is a video which I hope you can see. The guy here, obviously a Salafi fellow, explains why the Prophet's Birthday should not be celebrated.
I must agree that the facts of what he is saying are deemed correct by both the Sunnis and the Shiahs. Meaning, within the context of their own stories, what he is saying makes sense. (I deem them otherwise. Ha ha ha).
The Sunnis celebrate the Prophet's Birthday on the 12th of the month of Rabbiul Awwal of the Arabic calendar.
This birth date has been deemed incorrect by the Salafis and disputed by the Shias. (It is the nature of religion - everything is contested, disputed, nothing is for certain.)
Then the Sunnis say the Prophet also died on the same day ie 12th Rabbiul Awwal.
This means the Prophet was born and he died on the same day ie 12th Rabbiul Awwal.
For your information :
- The first mosque ie the Masjid Al Quba was also completed on the 12th Rabbiul Awwal.
- And the first Friday prayers were also held on the 12th Rabbiul Awwal.
- Many great coincidences happened on the 12th Rabbiul Awwal.
The Salafi fellow in the video says the Prophet did die on 12th Rabbiul Awwal but the Prophet's birth date is not known by the religious folks. No one knows the real date, he says. So how can they celebrate the Prophet's birthday he asks. And he also says the Sunnis are actually celebrating the Prophet's death as his birthday !!
Well that is your view Abdooool. Other people dont agree with you.
I am interested in the Prophet's Friday sermons. The Shiah people have a book called Najhul Balagha which they say is a record of all the Friday sermons (khutbah Jumaat) of Ali Abi Talib or Imam Ali - the fourth Caliph.
Yet there are no recorded Friday sermons of the Prophet. Assuming the Prophet delivered the Friday sermon for 20 years, that works out to 1040 Friday sermons.
Where are these 1040 Friday sermons?
The Arabs say they have recorded what the Prophet ate, how he bathed, how he used the toilet, what he spoke to his wives - even in private.
Yet there are no records of 1040 Friday sermons the Prophet must have delivered to the public at large. This is a great mystery. Where are those 1040 Friday sermons?
