Mahfuz sees 'hot love and romance' in PAS courting Khalid

A former PAS leader has described the Islamic party's acceptance of former Selangor menteri besar Khalid Ibrahim as a sign of its "preparedness to form a mixed government" with Umno and BN.
Pokok Sena MP Mahfuz Omar said Khalid, on the other hand, had expressed his willingness to assist BN to seize Selangor from Pakatan Harapan.
"He is also willing to help PAS, which has helped him a lot in the past.
"This kind of development is increasingly seen as tightening the ties - hot love and romance - between PAS and Umno," Mahfuz added.
He said although PAS and Umno appeared as if they were fighting against each other in the coming 14th general election, such was the "nature of love".
"They will argue and then persuade each other but at the same time, PAS will continue to hope it can marry Umno BN in GE14," he said.

Mahfuz was referring to the latest political development in Selangor where PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang (photo) said Khalid can contest on the party's ticket as he is "clean".
Hadi also said the party was willing to accept Khalid as its menteri besar candidate, but that it was up to the Selangor PAS leadership.
In 2014, Khalid was ousted as Selangor menteri besar following acrimony with his then party, PKR.
PKR deputy chief Azmin Ali then replaced Khalid (photo) as MB in September that year.

"It looks like PAS does not need to wait until GE14 to become the kingmaker when its heart's choice has revealed who the party wants as its menteri besar.
"Based on the Selangor PAS' leadership's remarks, it shows that (they) have certainly obtained the green light from the central PAS leadership to accept Khalid as the MB for Selangor," Mahfuz added.
However, the matter has been refuted by PAS vice-president Iskandar A Samad, who said reports that his party is willing to give Khalid a Selangor seat under its ticket without requiring membership in the party may have been "misinterpreted."
The Chempaka assemblyperson said the matter was yet to be discussed by the party.- Mkini
