After calling Asyraf's win, Umno Youth results on hold due to disputes

Umno has now said it cannot verify the results for the Youth chief contest despite earlier announcing Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki as the winner.
The announcement was made through the Pemilihan Umno 2018 Twitter account, which is managed by the Umno information bureau.
"Asyraf, the candidate for Umno Youth chief, cannot hold a press conference because the results of 25 divisions cannot be verified.
"The votes from 25 divisions cannot be verified as complaints have been made by the members there," it said in a Twitter posting.

Keputusan undi daripada 25 bahagian tidak boleh disahkan kerana aduan telah dibuat oleh anggota-anggota bahagian tersebut. Penerangan lanjut akan diberi di dalam satu sidang akhbar tidak lama lagi.
Asyraf had prepared to hold a press conference to claim victory at 5pm today but this was delayed to 7pm.
The press conference has now been postponed until Umno executive secretary Ab Rauf Yusoh makes a formal announcement.
Earlier, Asyraf's closest rival Khairul Azwan Harun had conceded defeat after the Umno information bureau announced Asyraf as the winner at around noon.
"Asyraf is official the Umno Youth chief for the 2018-2021 term," it said.
[KEPUTUSAN RASMI]

Prior to the announcement, the Umno information bureau had placed Asyraf ahead at 65 votes with Khairul in a close second with 62 votes.
Paya Besar MP Shahar Abdullah was third with 51 votes and Sungai Besar Umno chief Jamal Md Yunos had two votes.
That amounted to 180 out of the 191 divisions.
According to the Umno election system, if the majority of delegates in a division votes for a particular candidate, then the candidate would be deemed to have won the division and will earn one vote.

It remains unclear if the outcome will change after the disputes are addressed. - Mkini
