Bukit Permai rep proposes Felda development committee

Tosrin Jarvanthi says if his proposal is accepted, Johor will be the first state to establish such a committee.

JOHOR BAHRU: Bukit Permai assemblyman Tosrin Jarvanthi has proposed that the Johor government set up a Felda affairs development committee to better serve the interests of the community.

He said the committee should be headed by someone who was also a state executive council member.

“If it is implemented, I think Johor will be the first state to establish such a committee. With the ‘exco’ status, the committee will have more clout,” he told Bernama.

He said establishing the committee was important for the Pakatan Harapan-led government to safeguard Felda’s interests.

He added that existing infrastructure and facilities in Felda areas such as community halls, mosques and roads were sufficient but needed to be upgraded from time to time.

Tosrin said he would table the proposal for the committee at the coming Johor state assembly sitting.

He said there were about 2,000 settlers at Felda Bukit Batu, Felda Bukit Permai, Felda Inas and Felda Taib Andak, all in the Bukit Permai state constituency. -FMT
