FINALLY THE WORLD WILL KNOW WHO ORDERED ALTANTUYA TO BE KILLED: COPS KICK OFF RE-INVESTIGATION INTO MURDER CASE BY TAKING DOWN SETEV’S STATEMENT

KUALA LUMPUR: City police have recorded Setev Shaariibuu’s statement today after he lodged a police report yesterday to seek fresh a investigation into the murder of his daughter, Altantuya.
“We can confirm a report was made by Setev Shaariibuu on June 20 at 12.03pm at the Dang Wangi district police headquarters,” KL deputy police chief DCP Datuk Zainuddin Yaacob said in a statement.
“Police recorded statements from the complainant today at 9am, and will then refer the findings and investigation papers to the deputy public prosecutor’s office.”
Setev and his lawyer, Bukit Gelugor MP Ramkarpal Singh, had met Attorney-General Tommy Thomas and Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad this week in an attempt to re-open the case on the 2006 murder of the Mongolian national.
Mahathir and Thomas reportedly agreed that further investigations should be carried out in view of newfound evidence.
In 2009, former police commandos Sirul Azhar Umar and Azilah Hadri were found guilty of murdering Altantuya in Mukim Bukit Raja in Klang between 10pm on October 19, 2006 and 1am on October 20, 2006. – THE SUN DAILY

IGP: Altantuya murder will be reinvestigated

KUALA LUMPUR: Police are reopening investigations into the gruesome murder of Altantuya Shaaribu.
“I can confirm we are reopening investigations,” Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun told The Star.
“We are reopening investigations based on the old police report and a new one lodged in Dang Wangi,” he said adding that the result of the investigation would be submitted to the Deputy Public Prosecutor.
Meanwhile, Kuala Lumpur deputy police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Zainuddin Yaacob confirm that Altantuya’s father Dr Shaaribuu Setev lodged a report with the Dang Wangi district police headquarters at around 12.03pm on Wednesday (June 20).
He said police had just finished recording Dr Shaaribuu’s statement today (June 21).
Altantuya is believed to have been killed and her body blown up with explosives at a secondary jungle in Mukim Bukit Raja, Klang, between 10pm on Oct 19, 2006, and 1am on Oct 20, 2006.
In 2009, former police Special Action Unit members Sirul Azhar Umar and Azilah Hadri were found guilty of Altantuya’s murder.
The Court of Appeal overturned their sentences in 2013 but, upon the prosecution’s appeal, the sentences were upheld by the Federal Court.
However, Sirul fled to Australia where he was detained by Australian Immigration at a detention centre in Sydney after Interpol issued a red notice on him. He has been at the detention centre since 2015 and is hoping to get asylum in Australia. – ANN
