Police will re-open an investigation into the murder of Mongolian national Altantuya Shaaribuu, said inspector-general of police Mohamad Fuzi Harun.
"Police will conduct the investigation and refer it to the deputy public prosecutor," he told Malaysiakini this afternoon.
Meanwhile, Kuala Lumpur deputy police chief Zainuddin Yaacob confirmed that Altantuya's father Shaaribuu Setev had lodged a report with the Dang Wangi district police headquarters yesterday.
Zainuddin said police have also recorded a statement from Setev, who has met with Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad and attorney-general Tommy Thomas, this morning.
Altantuya, 28, was killed in October 2006, by two special police operations force personnel Azilah Hadri and Sirul Azhar Umar.
She was shot twice in the head and her remains were blown up with explosives.
