KUALA LUMPUR: KLCC (Holdings) Sdn Bhd today said it would proceed with the development of the surrounding areas of the Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC) as the current property development situation would not affect the company’s projects.
Group CEO Hashim Wahir who attended a meeting with the Council of Eminent Persons this morning, said the extension projects had been categorised as medium-term development.
“The council wants to know about the development around the KLCC area and the status (of the projects). They are very concerned about the supply of offices and commercial spaces in Kuala Lumpur,” he said.
“There are tenders that have been awarded and those that are not, so basically we have to go to the board (of directors) to make a very informed decision that affects the commercial aspect.”
Hashim said the company would look further into the commercial viability and market situation, and assured that the company was mindful of the market scenario.
“The current occupancy rate of our offices is 100%, and we are also responsible for ensuring that KLCC is developed,” he said, adding that the extension would only be completed in 2020 or 2021. -FMT
