Umno presidential candidate Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah's camp suffered its first blow today, as one of its lieutenants, Bastien Onn, is widely expected to lose the race for the Umno Youth vice-chief position.
Unofficial results from Putra World Trade Centre as of 9.45pm place the winner as Shahril Hamdan, who is said to be in the camp of Tengku Razaleigh's rival, former youth and sports minister Khairy Jamaluddin.
Shahril is believed to have secured the votes of 106 divisions, compared to just 19 by Bastien.
Tengku Razaleigh, Khairy, and former deputy prime minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi are the three top contenders for the Umno presidency.
The other two relatively-unknown contenders are Mohamed Iqbal Maricair from the Bandar Tun Razak division, and Mohd Yusof Musa @ Jamaluddin from Iskandar Puteri.
As for the Umno Youth chief position, it is unclear who is leading the race at the present time.
Two different unofficial tallies each place senator Khairul Azwan Harun and former deputy minister in the Prime Minister's Department Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki in the lead.
Khairul Azwan is believed to be in Khairy's camp, while it is unclear who Asyraf supports.
There are nine candidates in total for the Umno Youth chief race.
Umno wings elections were held today, with unofficial results expected in the early hours of tomorrow.
