MCA THE LATEST FROM UMNO-BN TO HIDE BEHIND ANWAR TO SAVE THEM FROM GUAN ENG’S EXPOSES: BUT TOO BAD, KIT SIANG SAYS NO WAY – ‘AS A MATTER OF PRINCIPLE, ALL THEIR CORRUPTION WRONGDOINGS MUST BE EXPOSED’

PETALING JAYA – Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng’s efforts to expose all previous incidents of corruption and mismanagement must go back to the time of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s tenure as the fourth Prime Minister, said MCA.
The party’s publicity spokesman, Datuk Seri Ti Lian Ker, said Lim must be impartial and “not leave any stone unturned”.
“This would mean having to expose all the alleged wrongdoings, abuse of power and corruption-related incidents linked to Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Tun Daim Zainuddin and also Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim,” he said.
The three leaders were former finance ministers before Datuk Seri Najib Razak took over as prime minister and finance minister in 2009.
Ti said Dr Mahathir, Daim and Anwar were allegedly involved in numerous incidents that should be re-examined, and that “someone in the past had allowed corruption to make its way into the administration and this has since grown to become a monster”.
He also called for Lim and Economic Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali to clear their names in the alleged scandals of the SPLASH deal costing RM2.7bil, the Ijok land settlement of RM1.18bil, as well as the Penang Undersea Tunnel Project of RM6.3bil.
“There are also numerous questioned left unanswered pertaining to the Penang Transport Master Plan worth RM46bil and the RM30bil Darul Ehsan Investment Group (DEIG) scandal,” Ti said.
“The rakyat have placed much hope in the Pakatan Harapan government and it is only right for them to know if their leaders are clean and have no hidden secrets,” he added.

Kit Siang: We should expose all the previous administration’s misdeeds

PETALING JAYA: It is not wrong for newly-minted ministers to expose the wrongdoings of the previous administration, says DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang (pic).
“There is a need to build a ‘new Malaysia’ and a need to undo all the wrongs of the past,” he told a press conference on Wednesday (June 20).
“As a matter of principle, I think we should bring to the public’s attention all the wrongs, scandals and corrupt practices of the past,” he added.
Kit Siang said that ministers who are aware of past wrongs should expose them to avoid being questioned later about why they failed to do so.
Kit Siang also noted that he has been exposing alleged corrupt practices and wrongs as an MP for the last 52 years, and cited recent exposés by the Education Minister and Health Minister as examples where past wrongs were brought to the attention of the public.
He added such revelations would also help Malaysians have zero tolerance towards corruption.
He was asked to comment on the recent exposès by Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng, his son, with regards to the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) scandal.
Kit Siang however stressed that his response to the question was a general one and not specifically on the 1MDB exposès by the Finance Minister.
On Tuesday, PKR adviser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the Finance Minister has to strike a balance between exposing scandals and inspiring confidence among investors.
Anwar said that the minister should leave exposés to others, including the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.
In response to this, Guan Eng clarified that his actions in revealing the financial scandals from the previous administration were done on the instructions of Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
