Poll: Who should be the next Umno president?

For decades, becoming Umno's president also meant helming both BN and the nation.

However, the June 30 party polls would see the new president entrusted with the unenviable task of rebuilding Umno and BN.

Pakatan Harapan, in its various forms over the decades, had transformed into a formidable opposition and captured federal power in the May 9 general election.

In contrast, BN has been disintegrating following its defeat, leaving it with only 56 MPs, 53 of whom are from Umno, which remains the largest party.

Even though only 170,000 delegates will decide on the next Umno president, the new leader must also be accepted by Malaysians should Umno and BN wish to position itself as an alternative.

This poll seeks to gauge what Malaysians expect of Umno. -Mkini
