Press camp outside Najib's house amid speculation of arrest

Reporters have descended upon Jalan Langgak Duta amid speculation that former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak will be arrested at his private residence tonight.
About 30 reporters were seen on standby near a junction leading Najib's home, which has been cordoned off with yellow tape.
However, no police vehicles nor visitors were seen entering or leaving the compound the whole night.
Four plainclothes police officers, believed to be from the Sentul police headquarters, were seen guarding the entrance of the home.
But this has been the case since Najib was ousted in last month's general election.
When queried, a number of reporters said they were asked to camp out overnight at Jalan Langgak Duta as investigators complete their probe into the 1MDB scandal.
The speculation of the former premier's impending arrest grew after the MACC was yesterday granted a seven-day remand order on Najib's former special officer to facilitate investigations into 1MDB.
However, according to Bernama, Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department director Amar Singh Ishar Singh refuted the rumours of any arrest, when contacted.
The same goes for MACC Commissioner Mohd Shukri Abdull who assured Bernama they would be “no raid or arrest”.
Press conference tomorrow
Last week, Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad told Reuters that investigators already have "an almost perfect case” against the principal suspects in the scandal.
Mahathir also stated that an array of charges may be brought against the embattled former premier, including embezzlement and bribery with government money.
Amar is also slated to hold a press conference tomorrow on the total value of items seized from various Najib-linked properties in the police probe into the matter.
Last month, police had seized hundreds of boxes containing luxury handbags from these properties, as well as travel suitcases filled with cash of various denominations, valued at RM114 million, jewellery and watches.
Najib has consistently denied any wrongdoing with regard to 1MDB, even stating in a recent interview that he would have acted had he known any money from the state investment firm was being misappropriated. Mkini
