KOTA KINABALU: Suspects in Sabah who arranged to get ganja from Kuala Lumpur via WeChat and PosLaju, have been nabbed.
A couple and their drug dealer were nabbed just before a transaction in front of a budget hotel in Bundusan, near here.
The couple, in their 20s, were arrested in their car while waiting for their dealer to deliver the drugs, believed to be weed or marijuana (ganja), at about 6pm on June 8.
Their alleged dealer, who was at that time walking towards their car, was also arrested. This was when he tried to run away after seeing the policemen.

Their alleged dealer, who was at that time walking towards their car, was also arrested. This was when he tried to run away after seeing the policemen.
Penampang police chief Deputy Supt Mohd Haris Ibrahim said the police seized about six grams of dried leaves, believed to be weed, from the couple while 2kg of weed was also confiscated from the suspected dealer.
“The suspected dealer had thrown away a box while trying to flee but we got him and the box,” he said.
He said the first-time suspects were believed to have gotten the drugs (worth about RM5,000 on the streets) from a supplier in Chow Kit, Kuala Lumpur.
“We believe these suspects dealt through the social messaging application – WeChat and had gotten their items via PosLaju,” DSP Haris said during a press conference at the Penampang police station on Monday.
If convicted, the suspects could face a death sentence or jail term with fine.
In another case on the same day, two men, one local and the other an immigrant, were nabbed at a house in Kg Bukit Luyang Baru Penampang while packing what was believed to be drugs.
“The two suspects attempted to escape and one of them injured himself when he fell during the incident,” DSP Haris said.
He said drugs, believed to be methamphetamines (syabu), weighing about 5.01g were seized.
One of the suspects was tested positive for drug abuse.
DSP Mohd Haris thanked the public for their information and cooperation in helping the police combat drug abuse in the community.
“We hope the public will continue working together with the police in fighting crime. We will not reveal our informers,” he said.- Mkini
