YOURSAY | 'It is for Anwar to be mindful of what he says as it will come back to haunt him later on.'
Odysseus: Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad is right about Anwar Ibrahim's right as a citizen of this country. Any citizen can comment on anything about the country they love.
However, it is for Anwar to be mindful of what he says as it will come back to haunt him later on. If he makes enemy with the current cabinet, is he making his return to the cabinet easy?
It's better for Anwar to wise up and choose a better way to work.
Joe Lee: There is no doubt that without Anwar, there would have been no movement for reformation in the last 20 years.
But at the same time, Pakatan Harapan would not have won over enough Malays to cause the fall of Umno-BN without the good doctor.
Dr M is spot on. Citizen Anwar can talk until the cows come home, but he is not the government. Dr M, Lim Guan Eng and the rest of the crew are the government.
For the many missteps of PKR since May 9, it remains the weakest link.
Spirit of Malaya: We like Anwar, but we have a new commander on board. So, please let Mahathir do his job and the rest of the leaders, please assist him.
Abd Karim: Day by day Mahathir is teaching Malaysians lessons on good governance, integrity, fairness, leadership, perseverance, rule of law, collective decisions, etc...
We are amazed. Thanks Dr M!
Pisang Goreng: Abd Karim, if you are learning “integrity” and “fairness” from Dr M, we’re in trouble! Why all this praise?
“We are amazed.” Seriously? Perhaps you are mistaking Mahathir with your first trip to Disneyland?
Khalid Gibran: Indeed, so many commenters have told Anwar to shut up and keep quiet. They are the idiots against freedom of speech.
Fair Play: Khalid Gibran, perhaps we need to understand whether Anwar exercised his freedom of speech as Citizen Anwar or as PM-in-waiting. As for you and I, nobody cares two hoots what we say.
The Wakandan: We must remember, every dog has its day. Today is yours but one day you will be PM.
Anwar, if you are supportive now and a bringer of peace instead of strive, at least when the day comes for you to be PM, you can say that you never made things difficult for the one who sat on the PM's chair.
Remember, one reaps what one sows.
VP Biden: The people voted for a Harapan government. I hope these two leaders work together for Malaysians. A little showmanship is expected of them.
RR: It is in the best interests of the Harapan governance that Anwar should only give his suggestions or proposals to Harapan or to Dr M in private.
He should not give comments openly as it may contradict the issues agreed to by the cabinet, in which he is not a member.
Since his wife as deputy prime minister is in the cabinet, he can air his views through her if he has a strong opinion.
We understand that as a past DPM, he may have valuable views to contribute. But he should be cautious not to contradict Harapan decisions once made.
He must not be seen be a lone ranger, which is not good for him as he is PM-in-waiting for Harapan.
Pakcik Am: Anwar must be cautious because he is de facto leader of a member of the ruling coalition.
He advocating that the government should not reveal the misdeeds of the previous government is misplaced. Hiding things under the carpet should not be practised by anyone.
Anwar should instead suggest what ought to be done to remedy the situation.
Dominator: Pakcik Am, don't be ignorant. When did Anwar say that the government shouldn't reveal misdeeds of the previous government? Why ‘fitnah’ him like that?
If you don't understand what he means, you better read his statement again. Your comprehension skill seriously needs improvement.
Anonymous: It's only Dr M who can bind together and lead Harapan parties to rebuild Malaysia for now. Everyone is sure Dr M has very limited time to accomplish all the necessary reforms.
Many groups are already working overtime to push their vested interests, post-Dr M years. That's why you see all the comments here, showing these groups' 'propaganda' machinery in full swing.
Mighty God have mercy and save Malaysia, post-Dr M years.
Mosquitobrain: Anwar has said he is not in the rush to claim the chair from Mahathir. What has been transpired and agreed earlier among Harapan parties must be honoured.
Fighting for Justice: Umno acting president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi is waiting for Anwar to take over. Once that is done, I guess Najib Razak will escape and Umno will rule happily ever after.
Mahathir knows that Anwar is weak and can be easily manipulated by Umno. I guess that is why Zahid is confident of taking over Putrajaya soon. I hope Dr M can serve his term in full.
Keen: To all Bersatu cybertroopers, take note. Your head honcho has spoken and it's time you all make way. Anwar is coming, whether you like or not.
Redmann: We need to close ranks and focus on slaying the devil we know that never takes a vacation.
Diatribes and insinuations and some invectives are totally unnecessary and uncalled for at this crucial stage of Operation Clean-Up. Focus is the key here. -Mkini
