The government will table a bill to repeal the Anti-Fake News Act 2018 tomorrow, according to the Dewan Rakyat’s order paper.
The repeal bill will be tabled for its first reading at the commencement of government business.
The controversial law was gazetted just four months ago, despite concerns over its vague definitions of what constitutes 'fake news', stiff penalties, and its chilling effect on the media industry.
The Supply (Reallocation of Appropriated Expenditure) Bill 2018 will also be tabled in the Dewan Rakyat tomorrow.
This bill is likely to reallocate the 2018 Budget in line with the new Pakatan Harapan government’s priorities. -Mkini
