Extension for CEP does not reflect cabinet inefficiency

Economic Affairs Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali has denied that the possible extension of the term of the Council of Eminent Persons (CEP) is due to the inefficiency of the cabinet.
The CEP was established shortly after the May 9 general election to advise the government as ministers were being appointed.
Today, when asked if its extension beyond its expected 100 days was reflective of an underperforming cabinet, Azmin denied it.
“No, the cabinet is very effective.
“[...] they (the CEP members) are not making any decisions, (they are) just putting up recommendations based on proposals from various parties and concerned citizens.
“(We still) need someone to study (proposals) and put up recommendations,” Azmin explained when met in the Parliament lobby today.
The PKR politician also said it was Mahathir’s prerogative to extend the tenure of the CEP.
Earlier today, Mahathir said he was still in need of the CEP’s services.
"Some think that the CEP has come to the end, but I haven't decided.
"I didn't say anything about 100 days. I still need their services," he told reporters.
Led by former finance minister Daim Zainuddin, the CEP comprises former Bank Negara governor Zeti Akhtar Aziz, former Petronas president Hassan Merican, tycoon Robert Kuok and economist Jomo Kwame Sundaram. - Mkini

  1. Please stop politicise the CEP issue. Let them help to serve us. Object to it if you find any abuse or wrongdoing or else just shut up.
I didnt hear any concrete suggestion to improve CEP role as adviser. If you find it to be illegal then proposed how to make it legal or else just shut up. If you find it didn't serve your personal interest then I suggest you just go to hell and look for one.
