KUALA LUMPUR: Former prime minister Najib Razak left the Jalan Duta Court Complex here this afternoon amid heavy police escort after claiming trial to three charges of money laundering.
He did not take questions from reporters who had gathered outside the complex since 6am, only waving as he walked out.
“Thank you,” he said.
About 30 supporters were gathered outside the court, shouting, “Hidup Najib” (Long live Najib).
Among them were Umno Supreme Council member Lokman Noor Adam and actress Ellie Suriaty Omar.

Najib was charged at the Sessions Court this morning under the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act for receiving RM42 million, allegedly from unlawful activities, in his personal bank account.
He was accused of receiving the funds in tranches of RM27 million, RM5 million and RM10 million which were banked into his AmBank account between December 2014 and February 2015.
If convicted under the money laundering law, he will face a maximum of 15 years in jail and a fine of not more than five times the illegal money allegedly received.
The money laundering charges come a month after he claimed trial to three charges of criminal breach of trust and one charge of abuse of power at the High Court. -FMT
