IPOH: A letter stating that Umno has reinstated the membership of former Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia vice president Datuk Hamidah Osman is circulating on social media.
A picture of a letter dated Aug 7, signed by Umno secretary-general Tan Sri Annuar Musa, revoking the previous decision to nullify her membership has gone viral.
The letter states that the Umno supreme council held a meeting on July 27 and agreed to rescind the previous sacking decision.
Hamidah was sacked from Umno in 2015 over disciplinary issues, particularly for being outspoken against former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
.She was among the first few people to join Pribumi in 2016.
However, she left Pribumi in September last year, saying that the party had lost its values as well as stating her unhappiness with Pribumi Youth chief Syed Saddiq Abdul Rahman.
When contacted, Hamidah confirmed that she had seen a copy of the letter but had not received it yet.
She added that she had yet to decide if she would rejoin Umno.- Star
