The Seri Setia by-election will see a straight fight between Pakatan Harapan's PKR and its former ally PAS.
Harapan candidate Halimey Abu Bakar will face PAS' Halimah Ali in the Selangor state seat poll.
The nominations today at the Petaling Jaya Civics Centre went smoothly with the presence of supporters from both parties.
The seat is one of two Selangor seats in the upcoming twin by-elections.
PAS did not field any candidate in the Balakong contest, where MCA is facing Harapan in a straight fight.
This is similar to PAS staying out of the August 4 poll in Sungai Kandis, where Umno and an Independent took on PKR, where the incumbent party subsequently won.
Seri Setia's 52,650 voters have to cast their ballot again, following the death of incumbent Shaharuddin Badaruddin on August 2 from illness.
Shaharuddin won the seat in the May 9 general election with a 19,372 majority.
