Mat Sabu still considering Zaidi's case, aide calls for patience

Former Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) pilot Zaidi Ahmad’s application to either rejoin the force or have his pension reinstated is still being considered by Defence Minister Mohamad Sabu, according to the minister’s political secretary.
“The minister is aware of Zaidi’s application about this dismissal,” Mohd Azhar Mat Dali said in a statement yesterday.
Azhar urged patience pending a formal announcement of the minister’s decision.
In May, Zaidi sought Mohamad’s help to rejoin the RMAF or have his pension reinstated with a declaration that his termination was illegal and politically motivated.
He had been sacked from the air force by a court martial in 2015 for challenging the Election Commission on the use of the indelible ink on voters in the 2013 general election.
After voting in his hometown in Kepala Batas in GE13, Zaidi lodged a police report on the use of the indelible ink.
A number of voters around the country did the same after finding that the ink – meant to prevent instances of voter fraud – wore off too easily.
Yesterday, Malaysiakini reported that Zaidi was upsetafter being told by the Armed Forces Council that he is not eligible for either of his demands because of his sacking.

“I won't comment much about this decision but I would like to remind Harapan leaders not to forget that they have now obtained minister positions, they are happy and can enjoy much luxury in their lives.
“Do not forget the rakyat, who have struggled and helped you attain what you have now, because the same rakyat can also bring you down,” Zaidi said. -Mkini
