Deputy IGP: Police top brass to retire, not resign

Deputy IGP Noor Rashid Ibrahim says younger officers should be given the opportunity to serve.

KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Inspector-General of Police Noor Rashid Ibrahim today denied that four top officers in Bukit Aman would be resigning soon.

Instead, Rashid said, the four, including himself, were scheduled to be retiring soon, following normal procedure, and not resigning.

“There will be four top officers retiring soon.

“The first is Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director Wan Ahmad Najmuddin Mohd, who will be retiring on March 15, followed by me two days later.

“Bukit Aman Narcotics CID director Mohmad Salleh’s retirement will follow in April. Then it is IGP Mohamad Fuzi Harun’s turn in May,” he told reporters at Maktab PDRM.

Rashid said the four were retiring upon reaching retirement age.

“Our time has come, so we should go and give the opportunity to younger officers to contribute to the country.”

On another matter, Rashid said that police would look into a report by PAS Youth that DAP was allegedly receiving foreign funding.

He said the report had been circulating over the past few years but there had been no investigation as yet. - FMT
