PKR denies Azmin sacked from party

PKR has dismissed claims that its deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali has been sacked from the party.

When contacted this morning, PKR communications director Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin told Malaysiakini that the meeting, in which Azmin was purportedly sacked, as claimed on social media, did not even take place last night.
"Rumours remain just that... rumours," he said.
Last night, social media channels, including Facebook, and Twitter, were abuzz with claims that Azmin, who is the Economic Affairs minister, was sacked from PKR.
None of the social media posts, however, had cited a credible source to back up the claim.
Those who shared the rumour on social media, however, followed a common narrative - that the sacking came following Azmin's well-known rift with the party's vice-president Rafizi Ramli.
Azmin is said to be more aligned to Prime Minister, and Bersatu chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad, and is often touted to be the latter's successor, rather than PKR president Anwar Ibrahim.
Both Anwar and Azmin, however, have maintained all is good between them. - Mkini
