Programme in Semenyih not related to by-election - Syed Saddiq

SEMENYIH POLLS
 | Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman said the programme which he attended in Semenyih today has nothing to do with the upcoming by-election.

"The activities had been planned a long time ago. They are not related to the by-election. Whether it's a by-election or not, I'll still come down," he told the media.
Syed Saddiq said his working visit in the Hulu Langat district included numerous activities, such as aerobics at the Setia Eco Hill Park, a fun ride, a football penalty competition and a cooking contest.
He also insisted that the distribution of free motor oil for local motorcyclists was not dedak (bribe).
"Dedak? I don't give out money. I am here merely to fulfil my responsibility as a leader."
Bersatu candidate
The Bersatu Youth chief also expressed his aspiration to see a young candidate representing the party in the March 2 by-election.
"Bersatu Youth had sent names to the leadership. We hope to see a young candidate selected, but what is more important is that we will support whoever is selected to contest in the by-election," he added.
Yesterday, Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin said that Pakatan Harapan candidate will be announced on Feb 14, two days before the nomination.
The Semenyih state seat fell vacant after the death of its Bersatu incumbent Bakhtiar Mohd Nor on Jan 11.
Polling for the by-election takes place on March 2, with early voting on Feb 26. - Mkini
