Forensic expert Shahrom Abd Wahid has lodged his own police report denying that he had threatened other expert witnesses in the inquest into the death of the late firefighter Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim.
Syazlin Mansor, the lawyer representing Adib's family, said Shahrom lodged the police report on April 23.
"It is a baseless and untrue claim against Shahrom. It was stated in the police report that there was no threats nor meetings by both sides as claimed in the press," she said in a statement.
This comes after two other expert witnesses lodged a police report claiming that they had been threatened.
This was revealed by Selangor CID chief SAC Fadzil Ahmat, who did not name the two expert witnesses.
Apart from Shahrom, two other expert witnesses who have testified at Adib's inquest are Hospital Kuala Lumpur forensic department head Dr Mohd Shah Mahmood and medical forensic specialist Dr Ahmad Hafizam Hasmi.
Both had argued that Adib was knocked down by the Fire and Rescue Department instead of being beaten up as alleged during the Seafield temple riots.
However, Shahrom who had also testified in Adib' inquest, had disputed the duo's opinion on Adib's injuries.
Syazlin said Adib's family was shocked at the accusation against Shahrom.
"For your information, Shahrom had retired in 2017 but was still willing to provide his expertise on a pro bono basis to assist the court in the inquest proceeding," she said. - Mkini
