MACC arrests duo for allegedly making RM165k in false claims



PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has arrested two men for allegedly submitting false claims of RM165,000 in 2013.
One of the men detained is the former director of the Education Ministry's Community College Education Department.
The other is a director of a company and both were arrested at the MACC headquarters between 11.15am and 11.30am Sunday (April 21).
The two men were arrested when they came to give their statements over the case.
Sources said the two men had worked in cohort to submit false claims to the department involving three programmes.
"They submitted claims worth RM165,000 but the programmes do not exist," said a source.
Sources said the two men will be brought to the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court on Monday (April 22) to face charges.
MACC director of investigations Datuk Seri Simi Abd Ghani, who confirmed the arrests, said the two men would be charged under Sections 18 and 28 of the MACC Act.- Star
