Rantau voters will go to polls on Saturday 13 April 2019 to elect their State Assemblyperson.
The candidates are Dr S. Streram (PH), Mohamad Hasan (BN), Mohd. Nor Yassin (Independent) and R. Malarvizhi (Independent).
Strong prediction reveal that Dr S. Streram is on the lead and as far as most people are concerned, Dr S. Streram will be their ideal candidate to represent them since he is from the ruling government, Pakatan Harapan and the Rantau folks could expect greater improvements and developments in their area.
Meanwhile, Mohamad Hasan, who was the three-term State Assemblyperson and Mentri Besar had neglected his duties to look after the well-being of his Rantau voters. News reveal that he was involved in RM10 Million illegal money transfer using a money-changer in order to purchase a apartment in London in 2008, purportedly owns a Minangkerbau style luxury mansion at Saujana Duta in Seremban 2, while claiming to be "homeless" and had refused to declare his assets when demanded too.
The two Independent candidates have not much to contribute.
The by-elections was called after the BN candidate failed to challenge the Election Court declaring his walkover in the last year's 14th General Election null and void. - Mohd. Kamal Abdullah
