Cops gun down three foreigners in industrial area

BUKIT MERTAJAM: Three foreigners were shot dead by the police at the Permatang Tinggi Industrial Area during the wee hours of Tuesday (Aug 27).

The trio, believed to be in the midst of breaking into a factory, fled by car upon realising the police's arrival at the scene at about 2am.

"In their aggressive bid to escape, the suspects fired gunshots at police and shots were returned.

"The shootout led to all suspects being shot dead at the scene," said a source.

The source also revealed that the suspects have been active and believed to be responsible for at least five factory break-ins in the past.

Apart from pistols, police also found a parang and equipment used in the heist inside the getaway car.- Star
