KUALA LUMPUR: The High Court here has set Oct 23 to decide whether to allow former prime minister Najib Razak, his wife Rosmah Mansor and three others to strike out a RM52.6 million lawsuit against them.
Businessman Deepak Jaikishan and his younger brother, Rajesh, sued Najib, Rosmah, Baling MP Azeez Abdul Rahim, former Bank Rakyat chairman Shukry Salleh and Najib’s brother Ahmad Johari Razak last year for alleged conspiracy.
The siblings claimed that the five were part of a conspiracy to “force” them to take a RM198.8 million loan from Bank Rakyat 10 years ago.
Their lawyer, Haniff Khatri Abdulla, said High Court judge Azimah Omar had set the date after hearing both them and the lawyers representing the five on the striking-out application.
In their suit, the siblings also said they were acting as “proxies” for the couple in the loan matter, and that Najib and Rosmah were supposed to settle the loan for them.
Deepak also filed another suit against Najib, Rosmah and two others on alleged conspiracy and interference in a property deal which he said caused his company to suffer huge losses.
He is seeking RM656 million in damages for the property interference suit.
Deepak came to prominence when he was linked to the late P Balasubramaniam, a private investigator hired by Abdul Razak Baginda, a former aide to Najib, who was charged and later acquitted of the 2006 murder of Mongolian Altantuya Shaariibuu. - FMT
