YOURSAY | ‘And why such a large cabinet if Ismail Sabri has advisors?’
PM's advisors cost RM50,000 each a month
Amadeus: Why does Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob need Pengerang MP Azalina Othman Said to advise him on law?
Didn’t he say he himself is a lawyer when he was appealing for Singaporean PM Lee Hsien Loong to spare Nagaenthran K Dharmalingam’s life?
There is also an attorney-general and the Attorney General’s Chambers. While Ismail Sabri might not be familiar with every aspect of the law, I’m very sure the AG’s Chambers has many different lawyers at their disposal.
Is the appointment of Azalina as the law and human rights advisor meant to curb her outspoken views? After all, child marriage, one of the issues which Marina Mahathir was also fighting against, was highlighted by Azalina.
And why the need for a religion advisor? Doesn’t Malaysia have muftis who can advise him on Islamic issues? Why can’t Ismail Sabri consult a mufti instead of appointing a religion advisor? And is this advisor for all religions or just Islam?
Oh, by the way, what has the health advisor been doing?
For a backdoor prime minister, Ismail Sabri is really raking up the bills using taxpayers’ money to pay for his incompetence. Needless to say, some appointments are based on their support for him, not on the calibre of the appointee.
For Ismail Sabri's son who asked that the rakyat give his father a chance, do you think your father is a fair and competent man?
It is so infuriating to see how our hard-earned taxes are being used to fatten the PM’s cronies.
OCT: The government already has a large number of civil servants and this prime minister has among the largest number of cabinet ministers. Yet he needs additional advisers? It doesn't jive.
This is a sheer waste of resources. The PM should not appoint anyone for any portfolio without justification or prudence. He should follow good guiding principles and best practices.
The PM is abusing his privileges and authority. He has no regard for the welfare of Malaysians. With so many advisers and ministers, if their advice is conflicting, who will he listen to?
The appointment of these advisers is not based on need but to reward them for their support of the PM. In other words, the PM is hiring another watchman to watch the watchman.
Cyclonus: Indeed, we already have a bloated cabinet of ministers and multiple deputy ministers in some cases. Don't all these people report to the PM and advise him as well?
If these people are not effective in their jobs, then the solution is not to hire more "advisors" but to replace the incompetent ministers or deputy ministers - and we know many of them who are.
Why are my tax ringgit being used to pay for incompetence and to hire more staff to cover their shortfall?
GrayDove8171: Let's just call a spade a spade - these are just easy money to reward his supporters, isn't it?
Stupid policies, wasteful budgets, zero accountability, but guaranteed free money every month. Integrity does not exist anymore in Malaysian politics.
And there are plenty of real idiots who will keep voting for these good-for-nothing, bloodsucking ministers who, in turn, will condition their voters to remain ignorant so that they will continue to support and vote for them.
Mat Tayar: What a sheer waste of taxpayer money. Does this PM really care? We don't think so.
The Keluarga Malaysia slogan is just another pack of lies to blind the poor rural people while the politicians whack as much as they can.
All Things Considered: Young girls have no money to buy sanitary pads. Many poor people have no money to buy food and other essentials. Many have lost their jobs during this pandemic.
Meanwhile, the government leaders are swirling in luxury and unthinkable excesses. It reminds us of what happened before the French Revolution.
GrayKiwi2541: Let me be a bit provocative here. A highly trained specialist who is competent enough to advise a leader of a country can get much higher pay on the international market. More than RM50,000 a month.
Please take note some businesses pay up to US$5,000 per day for a top calibre management consultant. These people are comparable to top athletes in their prime. They are very rare and very high-impact.
So, I wonder what we are getting by so blatantly underpaying these ‘advisors’?
Dr Raman Letchumanan: We are proud to save RM2.80 per month from leasing one Toyota Vellfire, but pay RM50,000 per month for one advisor.
Somehow our financial management sucks.
Darmakochi: Ismail Sabri, instead of these highly-paid advisors, why don't you just read the comments here and also on many social media platforms? It will be very educative and enlightening.
RM50,000 a month is a lot of money! Bloated cabinet, bloated cars and maintenance, and now bloated advisors.
Can you try to feel the pulse of the average Malaysian in our famous Keluarga Malaysia? Also, can I be taken as an advisor since I retired from government service? - Mkini
