Rafizi to make video about formation of unity govt

PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli was one of Pakatan Harapan’s negotiators for the formation of the unity government led by party president Anwar Ibrahim.

PETALING JAYA: PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli, who was one of Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) negotiators in forming the unity government, said today that the negotiations were not “pretty”.

“But it was too noisy outside,” he said in a message on Twitter, adding that he will give his personal opinion on the unity government soon.

“I’ll make a video on it,” he said.

Rafizi was among eight MPs from PH to be named to the Cabinet of prime minister Anwar Ibrahim on Friday. Rafizi was appointed a minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, with responsibility for economic affairs.

Anwar’s Cabinet comprises members from PH (15 members), Barisan Nasional (6), Gabungan Parti Sarawak (5) and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (1), with one non-political member.

Among PH parties, PKR has eight seats, DAP 4, Amanah 2 and Upko 1.

DAP supporters have questioned why the party was given disproportionately fewer seats as the party has the largest number of MPs (40) among coalition partners.

Political critics have also questioned the presence of Tengku Zafrul Aziz, who was appointed as the international trade and industry minister despite not having won a seat in Parliament. He has been made a senator, one of four who entered the Cabinet via the Senate. - FMT
