Kedah Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Noor said that PAS’ Aidilfitri open house in Alor Setar today was held entirely using party funds.
Sanusi claimed this differed from Putrajaya’s open house last weekend also held in Alor Setar.
“Today is Central and Kedah PAS’ open house, held simultaneously.
“This is 100 percent organised by the party. Madani on the other hand uses the government for political purposes. We use our political party for politics. That’s a stark difference,” he told reporters at the Kedah PAS complex in Alor Setar today.
Sanusi previously claimed that the government’s open house held in Alor Setar last Saturday was a “waste of funds”.
He also claimed the government’s move to hold open houses in the six election states was for campaigning.

However, the menteri besar attended the federal government’s open house last weekend to accompany state ruler Sultan Sallehuddin Sultan Badlishah.
Meanwhile, the Kedah Perikatan Nasional chairperson said today that PAS’ open house today was not intended to compete with the federal government’s event last week.
He added that today’s open house did not use state government facilities despite his position as the state’s menteri besar.
“Alhamdulillah, today’s open house is very lively. I can see that there is a lively response to open houses organised by political parties in Kedah, perhaps because of the upcoming elections.
“The menu is sedap-sedap (tasty). But our menu is made by divisions and states (party chapters), we don’t use ministries,” he said, adding that PAS Sik contributed rice and beef curry while PAS Pendang contributed 13 goats.
Planned earlier
Separately, PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said the party planned to organise its open house two months before Ramadan.

“The truth is, Central PAS decided to hold (an open house) in Kedah much earlier than when the prime minister announced (the federal government’s open house in Kedah).
“We decided to hold the Hari Raya celebration in Kedah this time, in conjunction with the Central PAS meeting,” he said.
Thousands attended PAS’ open house today, which was also attended by the party’s senior leadership and Perikatan Nasional leaders.
Among them were Bersatu secretary-general Hamzah Zainudin, Bersatu Youth leader Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal, Gerakan president Dominic Lau Hoe Chai, Bersatu supreme council leader Saifuddin Abdullah, and Hulu Terengganu MP Rasol Wahid.
It is understood that PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang and Perikatan Nasional chairperson Muhyiddin Yassin were unable to attend the open house due to being unwell.

In addition to enjoying the various dishes prepared, children who attended the event were also given ‘duit raya’ amounting to RM5.
Multiple vendors selling various items were also outside the compound of the PAS Kedah complex.
PAS’ charity unit also collected donations from the party’s supporters who attended.
Today’s open house event which was scheduled to take place at around 12.30pm started earlier due to the influx of guests, some arriving as early as 10am. - Mkini
