MCA president Wee Ka Siong has no intention to entertain Perikatan Nasional's invitation for MCA and MIC to join the coalition.
In a tweet today, Wee shared the news report of Kedah caretaker Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor's invitation and wrote: "No."
Sanusi had extended the invitation to join PN after MCA and MIC said they will stay out of the upcoming state elections.
Not leaving BN
Wee's one-word reply was echoed by the party's secretary-general Chong Sin Woon who said there are no plans to leave the BN.
He said not fielding candidates in the state polls has nothing to do with MCA's commitment to BN.
"Therefore, there is no question of joining other alliances," he told Malaysiakini.
Earlier, MCA vice-president Ti Lian Ker said the party's decision not to contest was a sacrifice to ensure the state polls will not be marred with divisive racial and religious rhetoric.
Six states will head to the polls on Aug 12.
It will be the first time former rivals BN and Pakatan Harapan will be contesting as allies. - Mkini
