STATE POLLS | Incumbent Bagan Dalam assemblyperson Satees Muniandy has lodged a police report, claiming he was heckled and threatened by Pakatan Harapan candidate for the seat, Kumaran Krishnan, and a few of the latter's friends.
According to Satees, who is defending the Bagan Dalam seat as an independent after quitting DAP, the incident happened this afternoon when he went to inspect ballot boxes at the SK Sg Nyior polling centre in Butterworth.
This was to ensure there were no instances like the one that happened at a polling station in Paya Terubong, where polling was suspended after the ballot box was found unsealed.
While he was there, Kumaran came and started heckling him, Satees (above) alleged in the police report.
"He then brought a group of men, who had no passes, into the polling centre and all of them started scolding and threatening me. Kumaran even called me for a one-to-one fight.
"I did not entertain their threats and heckling, but they carried on doing so," the 38-year-old claimed.
According to Satees, the group also scolded a female guard who addressed him as "YB" (Yang Berhormat).
"As my agent and I walked out of the school gate, a group of at least eight men surrounded us and heckled and threatened us.
"I feel threatened by this episode and I'm lodging this report as I fear for my safety." - Mkini
