Muda should consider joining DAP following its disastrous showing at the six state elections, said DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang.
"When the country is faced with a choice between ‘Big Rights’ and ‘Big Wrongs’; between the opportunity to rise up again to become a world-class nation or continue in the trajectory to become a divided, failed, and corrupt state - there is no other alternative.
"I have mentioned that I admired the idealism of Muda’s candidates although they have all lost their deposit," Lim said in a statement today.
He further advised the party to not be disheartened by the electoral results.
"I would suggest they explore the possibility of merging with DAP," he said, stressing it was only his personal opinion and not an "official offer" as he has retired from active politics.
"It is for the leaderships of DAP and Muda to decide on this."
Yesterday's elections in six states saw the Madani coalition, comprising Pakatan Harapan and BN, retaining the three states it already held - Penang, Negeri Sembilan and Selangor - albeit with a lower majority after conceding some seats to Perikatan Nasional (PN).
Commenting on this, Lim said moving forward, it was important for Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's government to address economic concerns that led to PN's electoral gains in the six state polls.
To do this, Lim urged Anwar to use the special meeting of Parliament next month to sanction the Madani economy agenda- signalling policy changes and institutional reforms that are beneficial to all Malaysians. - Mkini
