PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan hinted that Kelantan will be led by a new partnership between two experienced state assemblypersons as the state's menteri besar and deputy.
However, Takiyuddin echoed Kelantan PAS commissioner Ahmad Yaakob’s view, who has volunteered to step down from his menteri besar post, that the final decision lies in the hands of the sultan of Kelantan.
Asked whether the new menteri besar candidate was a state exco in Ahmad's previous line-up, Takiyuddin did not deny the possibility.
"The collaboration (of menteri besar and deputy) is a new one, not the present (Ahmad and Panchor assemblyperson Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah).
"Discussions went on smoothly, and the decision was agreed to by Kelantan PAS,” Takiyuddin told reporters in Kota Baru last night after a meeting between state and national PAS leaders.
Ahmad was present alongside PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang, among others.
Malaysiakini previously reported Ahmad as saying that the names identified at the meeting will be presented for Sultan Muhammad V's consideration today, with a swearing-in ceremony scheduled to be held at 3pm tomorrow.
PAS, through PN, won a super-majority of 43 seats after polling day on Saturday, while Pakatan Harapan-BN only captured two - Amanah in Kota Lama and Umno in Galas. - Mkini
