PJD link may be revived if requirements fulfilled, says Amirudin

Amirudin Shari said the state government only received the social impact assessment report for the PJD Link project two months ago.

SHAH ALAM: Caretaker Selangor menteri besar Amirudin Shari says the Petaling Jaya Dispersal Link project may be revived if its developer fulfills the requirements set by the state.

“If they can fulfil the conditions set by the state and appease the people, we can continue with it,” he told reporters after launching the unity government’s Selangor manifesto last night.

“However, for now, we cannot do so because certain conditions have not been fulfilled.”

Yesterday afternoon, Amirudin said the project had been scrapped as the impact assessment reports submitted by the developer were unsatisfactory.

He said the developer did not meet certain conditions set by the state government, particularly its social impact assessment report (SIA).

Elaborating on the SIA, Amirudin said it was only submitted to the state government two months ago.

“After assessing it in detail, we found that it did not meet our requirements, so we scrapped the project,” he said.

He said, however, that there was a need to resolve the traffic congestion in Petaling Jaya.

“So, if the developer can fulfil the requirements, then we can go ahead with the project.”

The 25.4km PJD Link is a dispersal highway categorised as “necessary infrastructure” under the Highway Network Development Plan.

It would have connected the north and south of Petaling Jaya, passing through Petaling Jaya Utara, Bandar Utama, Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Petaling Jaya city centre, Taman Dato’ Harun, Taman Medan Baru, Taman Sri Manja, Bandar Kinrara and Bukit Jalil Technology Park. - FMT
