Two independents managed to keep their deposits in the six state elections.
Meanwhile, Muda, PSM, 39 other independents - as well as five Bersatu associate members and 11 Gerakan candidates - lost their deposits.
An election candidate must secure at least 12.5 percent of the vote to keep their deposit.
The two independents who succeeded in keeping their deposits were Safwan Hanif Shafie in Ayer Hangat, Kedah; and Mohamad Rafie Ab Malek in Ampangan, Negeri Sembilan.
Safwan was the former Langkawi PAS deputy chief, while Rafie was the former Seremban PKR chief.
Safwan had 30.4 percent of votes in Ayer Hangat, and came in second place.
Meanwhile, Rafie garnered 20.7 percent of the votes and came in third in a three-cornered fight.
For Muda, it only managed to get more than five percent of votes in four seats namely Temiang (7.1 percent) in Negeri Sembilan, and Subang Jaya (6.4 percent) Dusun Tua (5.8 percent) and Bandar Utama (5.3 percent) in Selangor.
DAP rebels trounced
As for Bersatu, its candidates lost deposits in Padang Lalang, Penang and Seri Kembangan, Subang jaya, Kampung Tunku and Pandamaran in Selangor.
For Gerakan, its candidates lost deposits in Berapit, Perai, Air Putih, Kebun Bunga, Padang Kota, Pengkalan Kota, Batu Lancan and Paya Terubon in Penang, as well as in Bukit Gasing and Bandara Utama in Selangor.
Meanwhile, the two DAP rebels in Penang, David Marshel and Satees Muniandy, also lost their deposits. - Mkini
