Ex-dodgeball coach claims trial to sexually harassing two boys

A former dodgeball coach was charged at the Petaling Jaya Magistrate's Court with outraging the modesty of two young boys.

Terence Ee Soon Sheet pleaded not guilty to two charges involving two boys aged 12.

The 53-year-old was accused of committing the offence at a vernacular school in Petaling Jaya last year.

For the first charge, Ee was alleged to have committed the offence against the first boy in November, while he was accused of perpetrating the offence against the second boy between November and December.

He was alleged to have committed the sexual harassment between 2pm and 2.30pm on each day of the purported incident.

The two charges were framed under Section 509 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of five years, fine, or both, upon conviction.

Deputy public prosecutor Siti Maryam Jamilah Md Kamal urged magistrate Zhafran Rahim Hamzah to impose a RM12,000 bail with one surety, and to order the accused not to disturb the alleged victims as well as potential witnesses.

However, Ee's counsel Thrichelvam Rasiah pleaded for the criminal court to grant a lower bail of RM6,000.

The lawyer said that his client has lost his job as a coach, and had to look after his wife as well as two young children.

Zhafran then allowed Ee to be released on RM3,500 bail with one surety, and ordered him not to disturb the boys as well as any potential witnesses.

The magistrate also set Nov 29 for mention of the case. - Mkini
