A business owner and close associate of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has revealed plans to set up a new political party.
At an event themed "Indian Community Towards a Better Future" in Klang yesterday, P Thiagarajan said a final decision would only be announced after his meeting with Anwar.
"I have told Anwar about this function. He said, ‘Go ahead’.
"Whatever feedback from today, I will inform him (Anwar) soon.
"The final decision is in his hands. Don't worry, we hope for the best from our prime minister," he added.

Over 400 guests comprising Indian politicians formerly from various political parties as well as Indian NGOs attended the function at Dewan Letchumanan.
They include former MyPPP president M Kayveas, former All Malaysian Indian Progressive Front (IPF) secretary-general K Panjamoorthy, former PKR Kapar assemblyperson S Manikavasagam, former Kahang assemblyperson Ramis Subramaniam and former MIC veteran Dr N Ganabaskaran.
Former MIC central working committee member KP Samy hosted the event.
Samy told Malaysiakini the function was an effort to gather Indian community leaders' opinions on the need to form a new political party.
"Those who attended were given a paper with four options - to form a new party, form a strong NGO, strengthen Indian parties now with BN or form an Indian wing in all Pakatan Harapan component parties.
"They were told to mark their option. Over 300 participants chose to form a new political party," he said. - Mkini
