Hadi challenges Harapan to go after 'real' 3R issues

PAS MUKTAMAR | PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang said legitimate race, religion and royalty issues involve those that threaten Islam and its laws.

According to him, advising the government and Malays should not be considered as 3R issues.

“There are threats to syariah, Islam, Allah and the prophet. This cannot be ignored. We must rise and challenge efforts to go against syariah.

“The 3R isn’t about advising the government and Malays. The 3R is challenging Islam, Allah and royalty,” he said in his closing speech at the 69th PAS Muktamar held in Shah Alam today.

Hadi then challenged the Pakatan Harapan-led government to act against “legitimate” 3R issues.

“If you don’t, you are cowards,” he added.

Hadi is among several prominent figures being probed for touching on 3R issues with the others being two former prime ministers Muhyiddin Yassin and Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

The Islamist party leader is being investigated under the Sedition Act for his claim that DAP had a “Chinese agenda” to retain the meaning of Islam in the Federal Constitution based on the British colonialists’ interpretation which upholds liberalism and freedoms espoused by western countries.

He also claimed that DAP is using Malay spokespersons “who have forgotten their roots” to achieve its agenda.

‘Do not take revenge’

Meanwhile, Hadi took another jibe at Harapan during his speech when he warned party members to refrain from being “despotic or vengeful”.

“When we (PAS) become government, we should not be tyrannical, do not take revenge.

“This is taught by Islam and by our prophet. We are patient. Take this as a learning curve in our struggle.

“Don’t be like Harapan which twists the tyrannical narrative (when it formed government), and they don’t see themselves as tyrants.

“We (PAS) must prove (the opposite) in our states, we want to be a fair government to all whether they support or oppose us. We have to prove this,” he said.

Hadi also urged PAS members not to expose internal weaknesses to their rivals but should work together to fix it. - Mkini
