Sanusi wins most votes in race for PAS’s central committee

 

The 69th annual PAS muktamar at the IDCC Ideal Convention Centre in Shah Alam ends today.

SHAH ALAM: Kedah menteri besar Sanusi Nor has secured the highest number of votes in the contest for PAS’s central committee for the 2023 to 2025 term.

With 1,098 votes in his favour, the PAS election director was elected to be a part of the committee alongside 17 other prominent figures.

The line up includes former PAS Youth chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari, Batu Buruk assemblyman Khalil Abdul Hadi, as well as Kelantan menteri besar Nassuruddin Daud, and his deputy Fadzli Hassan.

The results were announced by the PAS muktamar election committee chairman Halim Tamuri today.

Meanwhile, the top five posts of president, deputy president and three vice-presidents were uncontested.

All the incumbents – Abdul Hadi Awang (president) and Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man (deputy president), and vice-presidents Idris Ahmad, Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar and Nik Amar Abdullah – retained their posts for another two years as no other candidates submitted nominations.

Out of the 22 candidates competing for the central executive committee, several notable names lost, including Perak PAS chief Razman Zakaria, Penaga assemblyman Yusni Mat Piah and Temerloh MP Nasrudin Hassan Tantawi.
