Bachok MP Syahir Sulaiman has hit back at Selangor assemblyperson Najwan Halimi, who yesterday accused him of having a lack of confidence in PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang.
In a statement today, he said Hadi is not someone who lusts for power unlike PKR president Anwar Ibrahim, who is the prime minister and also Najwan's boss.
"For the record, during the polemics over the deputy prime minister post in 2020, Hadi told reporters that he would be content to just 'balik kampung' and work as a fisherfolk.
"Our party president is that kind of a person. (Unlike) the president of your party, who is the opposite.
"It is not the prime ministership that our president is after," Syahir (above) said.
Yesterday, Najwan, who is the Kota Anggerik lawmaker, mocked Syahir for not naming the Marang MP as a potential prime ministerial candidate.
This comes after Syahir, who is a political secretary to Hadi, issued a statement saying he wanted to see a technocrat replace Anwar as the prime minister.
Adding further, Syahir told the PKR representative to do his homework before making such accusations.
According to Syahir, the idea of a technocrat-led government has been suggested by Hadi since 2018 and he was merely echoing the PAS president’s views. - Mkini
