Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim received a Turkiye-made electric vehicle (EV) as a gift from Turkiye President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
He said the EV from Turkiye car manufacturer Togg was gifted as a symbol of friendship between the two nations.
He said he had the opportunity to use the vehicle while inspecting preparations for Erdogan’s two-day official visit to Malaysia.
“Yesterday, I happened to test the EV gifted by the Turkiye president.
“He gifted it to the prime minister, but I consider it as a gift to the country, not my personal property,” Anwar said during the monthly assembly of the Prime Minister’s Department today.

He said he would only use the EV during his tenure as prime minister.
“After that, it must be returned to the country,” added Anwar, who is also the finance minister.
Togg, short for Türkiye’nin Otomobili Girişim Grubu (Turkiye Automobile Joint Venture Group), is a manufacturer of electric cars headquartered in Istanbul.
