PAS gears up for legal battle as Amanah hits back over Sanusi’s DAP allegation

PAS is prepared to fight back if Amanah takes legal action against Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Mohd Nor over his claim that Amanah was created by the DAP to weaken PAS.

PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan dismissed the issue as minor but affirmed the party’s readiness to defend itself.

“If they sue, we will fight. Don’t assume only they can sue. We also have legal rights. Let the courts decide. See you in court,” he said.

The controversy erupted after Sanusi alleged that Amanah was “born out of DAP” during a rally in Kedah. In response, Amanah leaders slammed the claim as desperate and baseless.

Amanah vice president Datuk Mahfuz Omar clarified that the party was founded by former PAS members who opposed Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang’s leadership direction, not by DAP or PKR’s Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli, as some have claimed.

Amanah’s secretary-general Faiz Fadzil announced that its Mobilisation Bureau would file nationwide police reports against Sanusi for his remarks, calling PAS’s narrative divisive.

“PAS is desperate, resorting to playing with religious and racial sentiments,” Faiz said, condemning extremism in politics.

Meanwhile, Angkatan Wanita Amanah Negara (AWAN) also rejected accusations that Amanah was harmful to Islam, calling such claims misleading and an attempt to distract the public from integrity-based governance.

“Tying Amanah to external forces is untrue. Our policies and decisions prioritise the federal constitution, national principles, and the people’s welfare,” said AWAN chief Datuk Aiman Athirah.

As tensions escalate, PAS and Amanah appear headed for a courtroom showdown, underscoring the deepening rivalry between the two parties. — Focus Malaysia
